Tear Gas Disrupts Bobi Wine’s Mukono Campaign, Leaving Several Injured
Tensions flared in Mukono as tear gas abruptly disrupted Bobi Wine’s campaign rally, sending crowds scattering in panic. The rally, which had drawn hundreds of supporters, quickly turned chaotic when security forces fired tear gas to disperse the gathering.
Witnesses say the event had been peaceful before the situation escalated without warning. Supporters, including women and youth, were seen coughing, crying, and scrambling for safety as the smoke filled the area.
Several people sustained injuries while attempting to escape the chaos.
Local leaders and members of Bobi Wine’s team condemned the incident, calling it an unnecessary use of force on unarmed citizens exercising their democratic right. Emergency responders worked swiftly to assist those affected as calm slowly returned to the area.
Despite the disruption, supporters vowed to continue standing by their candidate, saying such incidents only strengthen their resolve.
