Thousands Back Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2031 Presidential Bid

Thousands of Ugandans have endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s bid for the presidency in 2031 as the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) continues its nationwide mobilisation drive.

The endorsement exercise was launched by PLU in September, with endorsement books distributed through its structures across the country to allow supporters to formally register their backing for Kainerugaba.

According to reports, more than 5,200 people signed endorsement books at a PLU office in a single day, with Gen. Kainerugaba acknowledging the growing support for his political ambitions.

The mobilisation has also attracted support from several political leaders, Members of Parliament and business figures who have publicly endorsed Kainerugaba’s proposed 2031 presidential bid.

Kainerugaba, who currently serves as the UPDF Chief of Defence Forces and chairs PLU, announced his intention to seek the presidency in 2031. PLU has described the ongoing exercise as a grassroots mobilisation effort aimed at building support for his political ambitions.

The endorsement drive is expected to continue across the country as PLU seeks to expand its support base ahead of the 2031 presidential election.
